Second Coming

John 14:1–3

The return of Jesus Christ is the blessed hope of the Christian faith. Scripture describes His coming as literal, visible, glorious, worldwide, and accompanied by the resurrection of the righteous dead.

Jesus Promised to Return

Before His crucifixion, Jesus promised His disciples that He would come again and receive His followers to Himself. The promise provides hope and assurance to believers.

A Visible and Glorious Coming

Matthew 24, Acts 1, and Revelation describe an unmistakable event. Christ returns in glory with the angels, and His coming is not presented as a secret event known only to a few.

The Resurrection at His Coming

At the return of Christ, the dead in Christ rise and living believers are gathered together with them. This is one of Scripture's clearest pictures of the Christian hope.

Preparing for Christ's Return

Biblical preparation involves faith in Christ, repentance, obedience, watchfulness, love, and faithful service. This section can later contain practical study material about readiness.
